Privacy Policy

SportWit is a football prediction game. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It covers the website at sportwit.co.uk and the SportWit mobile apps.
The data controller is Sportwit Limited (company number 08098429). For anything in this policy, contact contact@sportwit.co.uk.
What we collect
- Your email address, to identify your account and send the reminders you've switched on.
- Your date of birth. We use it for one thing: deciding whether to show betting odds and bookmaker links, which are restricted to over-18s. We don't use it for anything else.
- A username, and optionally a display name, real name, short bio, profile picture, the club you support, social media handles and your Fantasy Premier League manager id. Everything after the username is optional, and you control who sees each of them.
- Your predictions, points, mini-league memberships and Last Man Standing picks — the game itself.
- Chat messages, stored encrypted. See below.
What we don't collect
- No payment details. SportWit takes no money — there is nothing to buy and no way to pay. Anything players agree between themselves around a game happens entirely outside the app.
- No betting. We don't take bets or place them. Odds are shown for information, and bookmaker links take you to third parties who have their own terms and their own privacy policies.
- No advertising trackers, and no selling of personal data to anyone.
Chat is end-to-end encrypted
Messages are encrypted on your device before they are sent. The server stores only ciphertext, and the private key that could decrypt it never leaves your browser. We cannot read your messages — which also means we cannot recover them for you if you lose access to every device you use.
Who we share it with
Only the services needed to run the app. We don't sell data or pass it to advertisers.
- Supabase — authentication, database and file storage.
- Vercel — hosting. Receives standard request logs.
- Resend — sends the reminder and account emails. Receives your email address.
We also read data from football-data.org, The Odds API, Fantasy Premier League, BBC Sport and Open-Meteo. Nothing about you is sent to any of them — the requests are for fixtures, prices, team news, headlines and weather.
Who can see your profile
Anyone signed in can see your username and picture. Everything else — your real name, bio, points, ranking, mini-leagues, trophies, social links and picks — is off by default and shown only if you switch it on, in Profile → What other players can see. Following someone is one-way and grants no access: a follower sees exactly what anyone else sees.
Your predictions are never visible to anyone else before the round's deadline, whatever your settings say.
How long we keep it
Until you delete your account. You can do that yourself at any time in Profile → Leave SportWit. It removes your account, profile, predictions, points, trophies, picks and profile picture.
Two things deliberately survive. Mini-leagues and Last Man Standing games you created carry on for the other players in them — they pass to another member rather than being deleted. And chat messages remain, detached from your name, so other people's conversations don't lose half their lines.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. Deletion is built into the app; for anything else, email contact@sportwit.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Age
You must be 13 or over to hold an account. Betting odds, bookmaker links and the accumulator are shown only to players aged 18 or over, based on the date of birth you give us. If we don't have one, that content stays hidden.
Cookies
Only what signing in requires: a session cookie from Supabase that keeps you logged in. No analytics or advertising cookies. Your odds format and accumulator selections are stored in your own browser and never reach us.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we'll say so in the app. This version is dated September 2026.
